    Wow this place was absolutely beautiful. The ocean front seatings were amazing and servers were kind. All our dishes were delicious! I never had mussels like these and the flavors complimented each other so well. Pasta had a lot of crab but personally was just ok. I was not disappointed with the amount of garlic on those fries... amazing!! Honestly would rather get appetizers over an entree.

    Our new favorite restaurant in Monterey ! Everything was excellent . Let's start from the beginning . Beautiful views and super clean outdoor seating . Our waiter, Sean , was AMAZING ! When he couldn't find a wine list . He tried his best to give me the list from memory. He noticed I didn't look convinced ( sorry Sean ) and brought over the manager himself to give me his recommendations . Our food was brought over in a timely matter and Sean was always checking in on us . THE FOOD ! We started with THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CESEAR SALAD and delicious clam chowder . For our mains we had the gnocchi upgraded with crab meat . Also the Schooners seafood pasta , which was spicier than I thought it would be , but still soooo delicious ! The crème brûlée for dessert was just excellent . Thank you Sean !

    My husband and I have been coming to Schooners for probably 20 years. I have to say that the food isn't as good as it was back then but still a great place to eat and the ocean front views can't be beat. We always ordered the steamed mussels when we come here....they are so good and love slurping up the sauce that they come in. Back in the day, they used to make the mussels with a garlic wine sauce but have since changed it to a Thai Style sauce which isn't as good but still a great way to eat the mussels. Everything we have ever ordered has been good and very kid friendly as well. I used to order the Sea Bass BLT every time we came here but it hasn't been on the menu in years. Maybe one day they will bring it back! Service is always nice and usually pretty efficient. The views are great and super family friendly too.

    If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. The food was okay, but for the price, even in a touristy space, I'd expect a little more for 4 stars. We ordered the... Ceasars salad: 3 stars. Bland. Not dressed enough, needed salt and pepper and either more dressing, or more flavorful dressing. And maybe I'm not hip, but I dont want to have to cut up my own salad unless it is a wedge. The Romaine came full leaf and I had to cut it up myself. That's annoying. Potato gnocchi with added crab: 4 stars. Gnocchi was soft and light, melted in your mouth. Tomato sauce wasn't memorable, though. If you pay to add the crab, that's worth it. Huge chunks of fresh crab meat. Yum! Thai-Style Mussels: 3.5 stars. Three weren't open and had to be discarded for safety. The broth was really thick and creamy, but I didn't particularly like that. Lol I wanted something lighter. Maybe less coconut cream or not as reduced. The bread stick that came with it was tasty but very saturated with butter and oil. Too much. Their beer taps were broken, bummer. But they had a kids menu at a decent price, so I'll give them that! Service was prompt and friendly. Hence the bump to 4 stars. That, and for a reasonable kids menu. Thank you!!!
